D.K. Palecek: Unclenched Explorations

April 3 - July 7, 2019

D.K. Palecek has spent the last five years exploring cityscapes and buildings in her home state of Wisconsin and throughout the United States.  She is drawn to the texture and patina of old buildings and searches for the stories they have to tell. In her exhibition Unclenched Explorations, D.K. brings original plein air paintings back to the studio to go beyond the original story.  The artist creates new works of art by exploring mood and design through color, shapes and brushwork.  Multiple original paintings have been recreated with two additional paintings each to expand the original concept while unclenching the formal rules and guidelines of representational plein air painting.

This exhibition was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
