Volunteering at CAM

Thanks for your interest in volunteering!

Volunteering is gratifying experience, and a fundamental part of what makes CAM, CAM! We have a large number of opportunities to learn about art and local history, as well as opportunities to use your skills to support the museum. No prior knowledge of art is necessary, as training is provided for the roles that require it.

Whether you want to help every once in a while or on a regular basis, we’ll help find the perfect volunteer position for your skills and interests!

Become a volunteer, or, if you’re already one, sign up for a shift below!

Volunteer Opportunities

Docent

Help serve as a guide of our museum!  This position is a great opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of art as well as local history. All docents are given special training on the building’s history and on each new exhibition.  Contact us if you’d like to schedule an initial training.  Please note that docenting is typically individualized work, 16+ years of age.

Exhibition Assistance

CAM is looking for volunteers to help with exhibition transitions and opening receptions. Exhibition assistance includes a wide range of roles, from physically handling and arranging artwork, to hanging signs or greeting people at an exhibition reception. This is a great opportunity to work intimately with local art and meet others in the Wisconsin art scene.

Special Events

There are so many different events to get involved with at CAM! Exhibition opening receptions, venue rentals, our farm-to-table fundraiser, Palette to Plate, High Tea, Christmas at CAM, the list goes on. We need assistance in both planning and executing all these events. Roles include event set up/break down, decorating, serving, greeting, etc. Contact us with interest – all ages!

Programs

CAM hosts a wide variety of programming for children and adults! Assist with Main Street Art Camp, High School Sketch, Scout Troop Programs, Sip & Paints, Yoga in the Garden, the list goes on. Roles include event set up/break down, decorating, cashiering/registration, crafting, greeting, etc. Contact us with interest – all ages!

Beer Garden

Come join the fun! To pull off CAM’s Summer Beer Garden we need the help of cashiers, beer pourers, back bartenders, and assistance with setting up/breaking down the events. We ask that Beer Garden volunteers are 18+.
